Remember that all through history, there have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they seem invincible. But in the end, they always fall. Always. -- Gandhi
Never forget that Donald J. Trump is the only president that has been impeached in the 21st century. And there isn't anything that he can do to change that.

(4,450 posts)Trump won the election, and every Republican in Congress cowered underneath him.
Sure, there's a political party called the Republican Party still, but it's really the Trump party. In my opinion it will be so until Trump dies... won't matter if he's out of office, his MAGAs will still follow and he will lead them via social media.
Democracy is constant struggle. And it is fluid. I hope we can drown the republican party in that fluid.

(38,414 posts)has won, but come November he and the Republican Party will see a defeat like they haven't seen since 1936. They are arrogant in a way that truly upsets 60 to 70% of voters. And, they all think that they can get away with it.
...Payback will be total and complete. But this is a prediction, we will see when it comes true. I believe it will. We are not the only ones sick of these pukes. Many independents and former Republicans will make a statement with November's vote...............
Gandhi is correct, Remember that all through history, there have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they seem invincible. But in the end, they always fall. Always.

(38,414 posts)...When you can steal 1000 votes and change them to Trump, and get away with it, that is one thing.
When Trump loses a state by 100,000 votes that is totally another thing. It will not be close enough that the dirty tricks will matter. He is full of "hate and lies" And arrogant in a way that is incredible.
The election will not be close enough to steal It will be clear as to who the winner is. The winner will not be Trump. He is an embarrassment to this country and the world. And it will be clear that people in the U.S.A. want him out. It will not be close enough to steal. And that is what I believe.

(2,563 posts)His ego demands that he be re-elected by a near-unanimous vote. His inept flunkies will try to arrange that and the results will be so blatantly false that there will be such a shitstorm as never has been seen before in this country.

(73,528 posts)anyone on this forum assumes the election will be "free and fair." I've seen nothing to suggest that in a single post that I've read going back to 2016.
What I have seen are lots of posts by people who know there will be cheating, and who are inspired to knock the shit out of the republican party. They know that foreign and domestic attempts to influence and decide the election are as certain as the sun rising in the east tomorrow morning. That's the new reality. It's one of many connected reasons we need to crush the opposition in November.
I've fought plenty of opponents who were dirty as hell. I found that by beating the fuck out of them works best.

(8,419 posts)Unlike the previous times we must make it really bad. Nixon skated, the BushCheney cabal skated. This time we cant allow moving forward for the good of the Country. For the good of the Country requires holding those responsible accountable, including jail time.

(73,528 posts)I think it means saving democracy in this country. It will require repair, but we can accomplish that. It also, by no coincidence, requires all of us to put forth our best efforts. We can do that.

But you never know.

(73,528 posts)I've meaning meaning to write something about the perpetual campaign, the security state, and impeachment becoming more frequent, as three leafs on a clover. They will continue to feed upon themselves. The only cure is an ounce of prevention, which requires the Democratic Party to win big.

(73,528 posts)We need to protect the right to vote, and for every vote to count. And we will need to maintain control at the national level, which will allow us the control in every state possible. As I quoted an old friend earlier, democracy is constant struggle.

(9,650 posts)Those are words we need to keep repeating to ourselves. He will fall. Maybe not as fast as we would like, but he will fall.
We need to think that while we swing the axe. Trees don't fall from a single swing. We need to start chopping away at Trump et al now.

(73,528 posts)He will be history soon. And history will not be kind to him.
A few of my friends are certain he will resist leaving the White House, unable to accept the humiliating defeat in November. They believe he'll be dragged out. What do you think?
Martin Eden
(12,862 posts)And I don't doubt the Republican Party with AG Barr will conspire to make that happen, no matter how thin the case. If it drags on and goes to the Supreme Court, will the Chief Justice who presided over the sham impeachment trial save our republic or will his oath prove as meaningless as it was for his "conservative" brethren in the Senate?
I don't fear Trump refusing to leave until he's dragged out. I fear a further collapse of our Constitutional checks & balances, taking the next step (no longer a giant leap) into 21st century American fascism.
Until recently I never thought this was possible, but now the unthinkable looks like a plausible scenario.

(73,528 posts)to Chris Hayes of MSNBC. He was pointing out that although the Trump machine is attempting to portray him as powerful, every measure shows he is weak. They want to create an unbeatable image, although virtually every one of our candidates is beating him in polls.
That is what concerns me. He is a cowardly dog. I remember in my days of responding to "community crises" as a social worker -- I was never concerned about the dogs that greeted me from in front as I approached a house. But I was very aware of those that tried to sneak up behind me. Cowardly dogs were far more likely to bite.
I agree with your assessment. The concerns you note are the same as my own. Thank you.

It sounds like Bloomberg's commercials are getting under Trump's skin. I like that. A lot.
