About last night .....

Perhaps the most hideous thing yet was last night, when Alan Dershowitz bleated that everyone should vote to acquit Trump, because part of the country “would not accept” his being removed from office. Gosh, Alan, where is your heart-felt concern for the much larger group of citizens who will “not accept” it if Trump is not convicted? Or are you saying that Trump's cult members are much more dangerous than the majority of citizens? That if the rule of law as defined by the Constitution holds, Trump's unhinged minions will react with violent criminal behaviors? Is that really an acceptable response to threats of violence?

I keep thinking about this crap coming out of the mouth of the “expert” lawyer representing Trump. It's as if Charlie Manson's lawyer told the jury they must find Charlie “not guilty,” because his “family” was threatening violence if there was a conviction. In that case, we'd know those were Charlie's words coming through his lawyer's mouth. Just like this was Trump speaking through Dershowitz's mouth.

I've had a very, very low opinion of Alan D for decades. I didn't think it could go lower. But it has.

I had finished a longer OP on the topic, but realized it came across as too angry. So I zapped it, and hope this version makes the point.

I think the republicans will try to shut it down tomorrow. I'm confident that our floor managers and Senators will request that Chief Justice Roberts to intervene. Hopefully, he will.

No matter what, we use this for fuel to win big in November.

The defense lawyers keep saying "let the voters decide." I agree, since polls show that a large majority of voters want a fair trial with Bolton testifying. And a majority favor conviction.

We've got to beat the hell out of them in November. No matter what this trial's outcome, we must crush them.

That's the issue with the upcoming election as well - will the election reflect the will of the people this time around? I fear it won't - as it didn't in 2016, and there was cheating and interference in 2000 and 2004 as well. It's getting to be a habit.

being toxic. It is hard to listen to the defense lie. But watching/ listening to the floor managers makes it worth it for me. I think that they have done, and are doing, a fantastic job.

Tom Petty is a good choice! I think later tonight, I'll listen to John Lennon and Neil Young. Likely be talking to mysef, too!

No social conscience. No loyalty to the Constitution. and no shame.

I find myself feeling angry at points. But I know that I don't do my best thinking when I'm angry, and so I appreciate having DU so I can blow off some steam. Then, back to work on using this trial for fuel for November.

that Trump did what he did to Ukraine because he feels it is in the best interests of America that he be reelected, so that made everything OK.

It is another case of Trump's belief system being channeled through Dershowitz's oral cavity. I'm surprised that he didn't speak about how happy cheating makes Trump. That would be an equally valid defense, and the majority of republicans would agree.

Of course he didn't have staff answer the phone. No surprise there.

As to cheating, yeah - their moral compass isn't simply off kilter - they've lost it entirely.

and not even a good one, either. A complete and total failure at covering up his tracks. In fact, such an oaf that he didn't even think it was necessary to do so. This is just business as usual for him and because he's never been held accountable, anything goes in the service of himself.

Maybe if he looked like Romney and was a little more slick, it would be easier to take. But he doesn't. He presents as a total clod, someone who has no comprehension whatsoever of how to dress, how to act, how to even comb one's hair, let alone understand how to lead a nation.
