Trump is absolutely right to say, "I'm the chosen one."

And he scrubbed it from the Helsinki press conference transcript.

URI Friedman of The Atlantic:

Snip...

Understanding what Putin said depends on what you watch or where you look. If you watch the video of the news conference provided by the Russian government, or by news outlets such as PBS and the Associated Press, you will hear the Reuters reporter Jeff Mason ask a bombshell of a question: “President Putin, did you want President Trump to win the election and did you direct any of your officials to help him do that?”

Putin then responds with a bombshell of an answer, according to the English translation of his remarks that was broadcast during the press conference: “Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Because he talked about bringing the U.S.-Russia relationship back to normal.”

Trump was chosen because he would do what was best for Russia.

"Yes, I helped him win the election."

And Trump stood there beaming like he'd just gotten a compliment.

Yet, it stands forgotten.

Foreign Affairs also recorded the odd omission by the White House.

Here’s What Trump and Putin Actually Said in Helsinki

The press conference transcript—and what the White House edited out.

In a wildlly unconventional press conference on Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin answered a question in a way that many have interpreted as an admission that Russia had meddled in the 2016 U.S. elections. But the White House transcript of the event omits the first half of the reporter’s question, changing the context and, therefore, the meaning of Putin’s answer to the question. The change remains as yet unexplained. Below is the full transcript, with the omitted sentence. We’ve also highlighted the sentence where Trump claims he meant to say “wouldn’t” but instead said the word “would.”

Snip...

Jeff Mason from Reuters: President Putin, did you want President Trump to win the election and did you direct any of your officials to help him do that? [The words in italics were omitted from the White House transcript]

PUTIN: Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Because he talked about bringing the US/Russia relationship back to normal.

PRESIDENT PUTIN: (As interpreted.) Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Because he talked about bringing the U.S.-Russia relationship back to normal.

Putin said what we’ve suspected. And it’s odd how few journalists mentioned this, in print and broadcast, even on cable.

I've quoted that sentence many times in this forum. The whole world heard it.

The Russian media also openly acknowledge that Putin helped Trump and they are very proud of it.

Certainly haven’t brought it up much.
