Strange times, eh? I think this is the most intense election year since 1968. That, despite this being a mid-term versus '68 being a presidential election. From my perspective, the greater that Democratic gains look to be, the more negative energy will be released by republicans. The terrorist bomb threat, as terrible as it is, isn't surprising
.yet it raises the question of what else they will do in the next two weeks.
When things get strange, perhaps more so when people are working hard on our candidates' campaigns, it can be good to take short mental vacations, and think about positive things. Like the reports of Mr. Mueller's interest in Jerome Corsi, and his campaign work with Roger Stone. There is, of course, nothing good about Corsi. Yet the news about him is important.
It reminded me of an essay I posted on DU:GD on March 26, 2017. In paragraph five, I noted a part of the role that Corsi was playing in the Trump-Russian scandal. In comment #71, murielm99 recognized the significance of what Corsi's involvement suggests. I could be wrong, of course, but I believe that we will be learning much more about Jerome and Roger's pranks shortly after the election. (My prediction in the second-to-last sentence in the essay was interesting I said that within a month, a special prosecutor would be named.)
Keep in mind that Mr. Mueller has a number of other witnesses, beyond their friends that have been interviewed recently. And that there is no sense of loyalty among those from the campaign, the transition, and/or the administration. While it may not have been otherwise, Trump's behavior has ensured that.
Trump knows what the Mueller investigation has found, because he was a participant. Same with the SDNY and NYS investigations. He knows what it means when our party takes back the House of Representatives. And this, obviously, is why he is stirring the pot, purposely trying to spark violence. It is questionable if the current trend of escalation will get turned down before Election Day. But it will not slow us down, or distract us.
We'll keep our eyes on the prize. Let's win the elections, and then get rid of Trump.

(149,583 posts)We must keep our eyes on the prize: winning back as many seats as possible, taking them from the dirty hands of the Republicans.
It is only too easy to be distracted by bombs. I can hardly comprehend that I just wrote that sentence. What is happening is not normal.
Thank you for your excellent post!

(17,186 posts)... I am superstitious. I prefer to not count chickens until they're running around in the barnyard. If, due to unexpected elements or criminal meddling, the midterms do not go as expected, then the letdown will be palpable. Although tactically, it may be expedient to raise the expectations of those with short attention spans. They won't remember it in two years, anyway.

McSally couldn't hold a rally here without hundred of protesters showing up.
Ann Kirkpatrick is 20 points ahead
The Republicans ran up the white flag and aren't spending a dime here. No one knows the name of the Republican opponent
But it isn't a chicken and we will be working hard every day to GOTV.
If we can deliver a 30 pound chicken then not only will we have one district flip but the Republicans won't challenge it for years to come.

(73,529 posts)is a republican egghead with a decaying yolk of "knowledge." I felt safe, back in March of 2017, in counting on his scrambled involvement being exposed in time. It's his time in the frying pan!
He is again appealing, based upon his rotten claim that he was working as a "journalist." Poor Jerome doesn't want to testify to the grand jury about his role in connecting "sources" on stolen e-mails, with Roger Stone. He doesn't like the heat that Mr. Mueller is applying.
I agree with you 100% about counting eggs. To paraphrase Malcolm, I'm an old farm boy, and I count on chickens coming home to roost.
When it comes to elections, I approach them in much the same manner that I did boxing matches. When I walked to the ring, I never thought about the possibility of losing. Rather, I am totally focused upon winning.

(53,061 posts)We have to press for every vote even in safe districts because the margin of victory is also important.
Kind of like when you knock a guy down once you have to come back hard so they stop getting up.
The best thing we can do for the Republicans is to beat the Trump out of them.

(111,078 posts)Strange days. Some of it would be funny -- even hilarious -- if it wasn't so dangerous.
This morning, I inserted the "theory" that Ted Cruz's father was the Deep State's handler of the MAGAbomber, at an alt-right watering-hole.

(6,831 posts)Trump is dying to declare martial law - before the elections to stop them from taking place. All of the violence being staged and waged plays right into his tiny hands.
I put nothing past him at this point. NOTHING. His desperation is oozing out of every pore.

(73,529 posts)past Trump at this point. However, it is important to focus on his "MO," or modus operandi. Trump cannot "rule" when there is order, and martial law is by nature a strict order. Trump requires chaos. As several recent books, including Woodward's "Fear," show is that Trump cannot even run an orderly White House. Rather, he craves the disordered chaos that defines our society. I do not see martial law as likely. Instead, especially after the November elections, he will call forth the shadowy figures of the alt-right wing to create more violent chaos.
