Trump is losing it because he admitted why he fired Jim Comey. Trump committed Obstruction of Justice.

(3,434 posts).... during a meeting in the Oval Office [May 10, 2017] I just fired the head of the FBI. He was crazy, a real nut job, Trump said, according to a document that summarized the meeting. I faced great pressure because of Russia. [Rolling Stone]
During said meeting [ on May 10] with Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak, Trump began describing details about an Islamic State terror threat, according to current and former U.S. officials. [Washingto Post]

(11,726 posts)Criminally insane means that he does not understand the difference between right and wrong or the concept of cause and effect or consequences, because of some mental defect.
Trump simply does not care about right and wrong and has rarely suffered consequences so he believes that they are for "other people" to suffer, not him.
Trump is sane. He is just a disgusting person who doesn't have a properly functioning ethical or moral compass.
Saying he is insane is giving him an excuse. He needs to pay for his behaviors because he is doing them with a purpose.
NewJeffCT
(56,828 posts)he has skated by his entire 72 or so years and never suffered any serious consequences - he bribed his way out of an investigation in Florida by giving Pam Bondi (future AG or White House counsel?) a $25,000 bribe. I'm sure he's done that elsewhere as well - I think a judge in NY got money and probably others as well.
Caliman73
(11,726 posts)Trump is a sociopath. He has little empathy or connection to others. From a mental health perspective, he probably had an emotionally difficult upbringing, not being shown any affection or attachment by his parents. That does leave a deep emotional mark on people. What I was trying to differentiate however, was that he is not insane. He knows what he is doing. His motives are really messed up. With all of his money however, he should have gone to therapy and dealt with his psychological problems instead of inflicting the consequences on the rest of us.
FM123
(10,053 posts)He may not be criminally insane, but he sure is criminally something!
Caliman73
(11,726 posts)He is a Criminal. His money has allowed him to avoid prison. Trump is a sociopath, which is different from a psychopath. Psychopaths are the cold, calculating, charismatic people who end up being discovered to have stolen billions or killed many people.
Sociopaths are typically emotionally unstable people who also steal or kill, but they typically end up being caught, and they don't amount to much because they are lead by their emotions. That is Trump, except he was born wealthy. He has lost much of his wealth, but has been able to maintain some portion of it, though he is likely in serious debt. He has been able to avoid prison because he has resources to pay for legal representation. If he were middle or working class, he would have been in jail a long time ago.
He is a criminal, but this country favors wealth so he has never had any Real consequences.

The very dishonest @LesterHoltNBC got caught red-handed publishing the FULL VERSION of his interview with me. This unedited version made it look like I obstructed justice by firing Comey cuz of RUSSIA. Why doesnt he publish the tape where that part is edited out?! WITCH HINT!!

(10,122 posts)it is pretty close to a confession he committed a crime.
He's feeling the heat as his employees, associates and friends have turned into a pack of flapjacks and are letting the truth out that he had captivated for the last 50 plus years of his life.
It is a serious unravelling because he is :
- looking at being disgraced around the world into leaving office via impeachment
- looking at spending a bunch of time in prison
- looking at losing all if not a bunch of his fortune through clawbacks of things like back taxes, fines and lawsuit settlements
- looking at his children going to jail
- and maybe least of all of his worries, looking at another divorce that will be massively expensive
I hope he gets what should be coming to him.
