An old article (1983) showing that Ronald Reagan's admin. was NOT too left for today's GOP.

It disgusts me when people say that Reagan would be considered too left to be accepted by today's GOP.

The Christian Right was blossoming under his reign: they were called the New Right or the Religious Right. Same thing, different decade.
Watt was an asshole who was appointed by Reagan—Watt was an 80's Trump, Sessions, Bannon...

Reagan was NOT an American hero: he was the beginning of what we are currently experiencing with Trump.

Fuck the Reagan years!!!

The Social Security changes that were enacted lowered benefits and created taxation of benefits, amounting to reduced income for lower and middle income Americans. COLA was reformulated in order to lower yearly inflation adjustments for pensions.

Same Trump playbook of de-regulation gutting consumer and environmental protections in order to enable businesses. Tax giveaways with promises of trickle down that won't happen. Reagan tax cuts led to subsequent cuts to state and local programs causing state and local governments to have to raise taxes to keep programs functioning.

Reagan's was by far the worst administration for labor relations and unions with so many violations against rights of Federal employees that Clinton Admin inherited huge backlog of grievances to settle and make right.

Anyone who conflates Reagan with Nixon is an idiot who doesn't know history.
