Stupid heating/air conditioning question
Hi, I've just had central air installed in my house. The air conditioning is on one thermostat and the heating (gas furnace and steamed heat/radiators) is on a different thermostat.

Which one should be set higher or should they be on the same temperature? The thermostat for the airconditioning is upstairs and the thermostat for the heating is downstairs.

Thanks

1. i am assuming you'll turn off one when you are using the other?
i have the heater kick on at 70 and the air kicks on around 78

don't know if that helps tho....

2. So the heater should be set lower than the air?
Is that the basic principal?

3. well you have a comfort zone you want to stay in right?
so the heater comes on when it drops lower than the magic number and you want the air when it's hotter than the magic number :)

you just don't want the heater warming up the airconditioned air or the air cooling the heated air, so you need a spread so the units don't try to combat each other all the time
