Opinions on Direct Buy?
I never really paid attention to their commericals until I started thinking about renovating. I saw an infomercial on them this weekend, and called to request the brochure and guest pass. Of course, it sounds too good to be true, so it probably is!LOL! One couple said they had an estimate from a contractor to renovate their small bathroom for $10,000, and by using Direct Buy, they were able to complete the project for $3000, including labor.

Any members here? Anyone ever used one of their guest passes?

1. Answered my own question....
I heard from someone who said their membership fee was like $4000, and they insist that you sign up when you visit. If you leave without signing, they warn that you can't reapply for 7 years! Talk about hard-sell!

Anyway, a guy just called me, and here is how it went:

He asked if I had a spouse or "significant other" I wanted to bring with me to the open house (assuming I was going). I said I wanted to bring my SIL, because she knows more about decorating and renovating than I do.

"Oh, so you're married?"

"No, it's my brother's wife."

"Oh, well we only allow people to bring their spouse or significant other with them, but she can come later if she requests a visitor pass herself...."

(I interrupt him) "Well, I prefer to bring someone with me. Are you going to penalize me for being single? That's flat out ridiculous!"

"You can come by yourself. We'll have staff to help you with all your questions."

"I've heard that there is a hefty membership fee. I do not intend to come by myself and sign on the dotted line without anyone to discuss it with."

"I'm sorry ma'am. I guess we won't be able to help you at this time."

"CLICK." (me hanging up)
