Debarking should never be an option (petition; please sign!)
Edited on Sat Apr-29-06 01:44 PM by CountAllVotes
Neighbors don't like debarking for 600-dog kennel (01/25/06)
Foes of the facility proposed near Little Falls, Minn., worry about debarking and waste. The owner says he will run a humane operation.

A proposed breeding kennel with 600 small dogs has some rural Morrison County neighbors and others speaking out -- in part, because at least some of the animals won't be able to speak for themselves.
"It would be deafening to hear that many dogs bark, but the owner's idea to have some of them debarked just doesn't seem fair," Vicki Davis, executive director of the Tri-County Humane Society in St. Cloud, said Tuesday. "Dogs bark out of frustration. Some will be in cages. They should be able to bark."

The proposed kennel's size has others upset. "Six hundred! Oh, my God, sounds like a puppy mill," said Joyce Borglund, who says she has bred dogs for 11 years in Prior Lake.

1. So, the McDuffy clan is back.
Go Google "Happy Tails Kennels" (I thnk that it was also Minnesota) and see what you find about Mr. Gary McDuffy and his (wife or sister, I don't recall off-hand) Wanda.

Great folks. Fuckers.

2. thanks for the info. Wanda!
I hate the god damn people that are doing this! They are multilating our supposed best friends ! They think that debarking dogs is a way to find a "resource dog" a home! Instead of recusing the dog, the dog ends up even worse off IMO being they can no longer *bark*. That is how dogs communicate! Many of these "dog rescue" places debark the dogs they have only to make their lives even more hellish!

:grr: :argh:

Thanks again for telling me about these creeps.

3. more on "Happy Trails Kennel"
Edited on Sat Apr-29-06 06:44 PM by CountAllVotes
Most of the links to "happy trails kennel mcduffee" when you google that, but this one does!

>> Expired medical drugs were found on June 12, 2002. In that same inspection, the USDA agent said the interior height of enclosed kennels for 15 dogs didn't allow enough head room.

The USDA generally grants kennels two days to comply. Otherwise, kennels can be fined as much as $2,750 per violation for every day they are out of compliance.

<snip>
In other reports furnished by the USDA, the owner of an affenpinscher puppy bought in December 2003 and traced to Happy Tails, said his dog was sold with internal parasites and hernia repair. In addition, a cocker spaniel puppy was sold with a stomach virus that required hospitalization.

The USDA reports also note the number of adult dogs kept at Happy Tails fluctuated -- rising to 829.

5. My mother debarked a dog of hers years ago.
I cried the first time I heard the little dog. She had a whisper bark. I could not beleive that my mom would do such a cruel thing to an animal she loved. Heartbreaking.

Petition signed. Thanks for the heads up on this issue.

6. yes it is very cruel
Thanks for signing the petition (you & everyone else).

I knew of a dog that was debarked many years ago. It was awful to say the least. The man that owned it was a real freak and he used to torture the dog and it would attempt to cry out and all you could hear was this squeak of a whimper.

Thanks again everyone!

7. debarking "clinic" to be held in Toronto, Canada on June 25th ...
A friend of mine forwarded me this information. The person is advertising this as a "service" and is willing to take reservations to debark up to 60 dogs for a fee of $75.00 a pop! Damn!

God this makes me sick! I wonder how she does it? Yee old metal rod shoved down the throat perhaps? I'm sure that would be about the only way you could debark 60 dogs in one afternoon!

:grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

THIS CRUEL AND INHUMANE ACT MUST STOP!!!
