Two new suspects arrested in beating of Giants fan Bryan Stow

Los Angeles police Thursday arrested two men in connection with the brutal beating of a San Francisco Giants fan at Dodger Stadium and have concluded that the suspect they took into custody in May was not involved in the attack, law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation said.

Police officials refused to publicly release details about the dramatic turn of events in the case, which has attracted international attention and placed city and Dodger officials under intense pressure to reassure fans it is safe to attend games at the storied venue in Chavez Ravine.

The conclusion that Giovanni Ramirez, 31, is not responsible for the March 31 assault in the stadium parking lot on Bryan Stow, 42, a Santa Clara County paramedic, raises serious questions about the Los Angeles Police Department's investigation and why Police Chief Charlie Beck has repeatedly expressed confidence that Ramirez was the primary culprit.

Lets hope these arrests are the real perpetrators, but I have my doubts, because despite original LAPD claims, apparently their first suspect, Giovanni Ramirez, wasn't one of the guys to begin with...I guess.

One has to wonder just what kind of "investigation" the LAPD is conducting. Stow was beaten nearly to death back in March in front of numerous witnesses, and the cops appear to have made little progress. They've done a lot of talking though...a pattern that is continuing as LA Mayor Antonio Villariagosa is now defending to department's handling of the case..

3. I suppose you're right..
but we were assured from the beginning by LA officials this case was a top priority. It's quickly going on 4 months now, and unless these recent arrests yield something, there has been no real progress to speak of. Meanwhile the LAPD has little trouble wasting resources and filling up the LA county jails with those accused of victimless crimes...seems like when there are some real bad guys around, the cops more often than not are MIA.

2. Two days ago Stow had a seizure...
and they had to remove part of his skull to relieve the pressure. Doesn't look good.

4. Good news! Stow opens eyes! Third arrest made...

Bryan Stow, the San Francisco Giants fan who was brutally beaten at Dodger Stadium on Opening Day, opened his eyes, tried to give a thumb's up with his right hand and even mouthed his last name, according to a message posted on the family's website.

Family members were told by hospital staff that Stow had an eventful Friday morning. He opened and closed his eyes on command and the milestones were witnessed by his nurse and a neurosurgeon. By the time family members arrived, Stow had been sedated and was resting.

"As always with these steps forward, we are aware that it's intermittent, and there will still be some steps back," the family said on the website. "Even before the surgery, when he was at his best, his response to commands were not consistent. We remain cautiously optimistic."
