1. Do we want a candidate
who is a good moral person - or one who is a born-again follower of the Lord Jesus Christ?

6. The Treaty of Tripoli, ratified in 1797
"As the United States is not in any sense a Christian nation"

Ratified unanimously by Congress and signed by President John Adams, 1797.

Still the supreme law of the land.

7. IF so, we didn't bomb Afghanistan.
No emnity with any Mohametan nation and all that.

Oh. Wait. The Constitution does say that treaties (by themselves) are the supreme law of the land. Just that it's one of the categories of things--along with the Constitution and laws--that comprise the supreme laws of the land. As SCOTUS has pointed out, of course, only as long as they're self-implementing or have laws to implement them, in which case they're basically feel-good resolutions.

But I quibble. Absolutely. That treaty, by itself, redefines and reclassifies the constitution and anything in disagreement with that treaty must bow before it as meaningless and insignificant.

(And fundie Xians say that the *Catholics* practice idolatry!)

8. Sure, absolutely debunked.
As long as we decree that the definition of "Christian" is only the one that he uses.

No. Wait. That doesn't work. There isn't only one.

Let's amend that to "as long as we decree that the definition of Christian can only shift as he requires, precisely when he requires, and only to the extent he requires." That'll work. Please ignore any obviously superficial similarity to any possible fallacy. Those who happen to see one are hopeless deluded and can't be considered true progressives.

9. Are you saying
that if you use an appropriate definition of Christianity, then America is indeed a Christian nation?
