Capehart not running for Senate
I was really hoping he would so he's split the Repukes during the primary and Byrd would stomp him in the general

http://www.dailymail.com/news/News/2005120610/West Virginia Republican Party Chairman Robin Capehart has put to rest speculation on his possible run against Sen. Robert Byrd.

He said this morning he would not file for candidacy in next year's election, opting instead to focus on guiding the state party.

"I'm honored by the number of friends and close associates who have encouraged me to run," he said. "But the decision (on whether to run) was becoming a distraction to getting the work of the party done."

Capehart issued a letter to members of the state GOP Executive Committee at noon Monday outlining his decision: "When I assumed the party leadership in May, I indicated at that time that my goal was to help the Republican Party of West Virginia in the best way possible . . . After due consideration, I have decided that the interests of the party in terms of my contribution can be best served as your chairman."

1. Hmm
Does this clear the playng field for Hiriam?

Lewis believes state party Chairman Rob Capehart is part of this conspiracy. Capehart has said he’s been encouraged to enter the race but does not expect to make a decision until later this month.

“If he stays in his lane, we don’t have an issue,” Lewis said. “But he’s gone outside his lane by creating a media war, a media campaign against my candidacy.”

3. I thought Byrd was just a feeble old man.
Why are all the repukes so scared of him?

4. an Eagle
There's scared of him because from Day One he had their number and said it out loud, even when everyone else was afraid of them. He treats George Bush like an out of control three year old and says so. He didn't let 911 hijack his mind or his voice. Read his speeches. If Kerry, and Hillary and Joe Biden and the rest of the Democratic Party had backed him up and he hadn't been the lone voice a lot of people would be alive today.
