Who's running against Dennis Kucinich?
Apparently he's against the health bill. I'm sorry, but I refuse to put a narcissist's claims to authority above my own well being. We need those subsidies and if Dennis is going to stand in their way then he's going to have to leave town.

8. Dennis has handily defeated every opponent he has faced
and you might not want to root for a Republican on this board, just a thought.

2. Well, unless you live in his district
It really does not matter what you think. The only reason you would need subsidies is that this bill forces you to purchase a product from a private company.

Imagine if the gov't passed a law saying everyone had to purchase food from Walmart....now you might not like Walmart, but that does not matter, you HAVE to shop there. How is this bill any different?

3. It's different because it's the right solution.
It's got cost regulation powers (the compromise bill does). The public option wouldn't be any better -- hell, the regulation measures make the entire industry into a "public option". You and Kucinich are making a fuss about it not being perfect when the reality is that the perfect is becoming the enemy of the good.

7. You have a right to your opinion
We just disagree to the nth degree on this bill...I think it will come back to haunt us if it passes.

unless you are a constituent of Dennis.

Me? I cannot stand John Boehner...But my opinion of of him is not important because I do not vote in his district. Nothing undemocratic about that.

16. So move to his district and vote against him - or run against him.
So I'm curious, do you have any obligation to respect his constituents' interest in keeping him? Or do THEY all just have to respect YOUR interests?

19. Well given that his constituents aren't all exactly thrilled about him...
I don't think they have much of an interest in him. Cleveland is a big city and I'm sure there are people there who are more sensible than DK. I'd love to move to Cleveland, except you need money to do that and I have none for the time being. Even if I did live in Cleveland, it would be too much to run against him.

11. this is how this bill is different...
Edited on Mon Mar-15-10 08:26 AM by Sara Bradi
(on edit typo)

The government is trying to pass a law that states that everyone HAS to buy food from - Walmart or Giant Eagle or Sparkle Market or Kroger or Buehler's or Costco or Sam's Club or another grocer.

If you can't afford to buy the food at full retail price the government is kicking in subsidies to consumers & price controls at the stores.

As it stands today, many are refusing to buy any food and using the legal system to force soup kitchens to stay open and serve up expensive dinners, that are funded by taxes at the grocery stores on those who do buy food.

That is how this bill is different, if you didn't know that, please read the healthcare bill.

20. Last person to run against Kucinich
got his house burned down the month of the primary. Call me crazy, but I think that may have had something to do with the dearth of opposition this time. It just seems rather strange, is all, that this guy who comes off as probably being the kind of guy to know shady creeps (you can see the insolence all over his face) would have the kind of violent support that arson suggests....

Kucinich Wins Ohio Primary
By Josh Kraushaar

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/03/05/politics/politico/thecrypt/main3907881.shtml

Kucinich won the primary, receiving 68156 votes out of 135589 cast to beat Cimperman 52% to 33%

The "dearth of opposition" by Democrats could have something to do with Kucinich beating the best corporate shill "D" they could put up by 19% of the vote.I guess DK sent his 'violent shady creep supporters' to burn Cimperman's house because he was angry about not beating him by at lest 20%?Now why would anyone call you crazy?

26. I think Kucinich is very well liked.
Very, very well liked. I think he's the kind of person who doesn't just advocate for the downtrodden, he goes and meets them face to face. And I think that's the problem, because I think there are some people who have a little too much emotional investment in the man. Suffice to say I don't think he knows how to put distance between him and them, and it's not really his fault I don't think but a natural consequence of his leadership.

Mark it on your calendar: 2012 is the year the world changes. It doesn't end, but it definitely changes.

If you've ever wondered what comes next after universal care, you'll find out in 2012.
