Romney-appointed science board appointee out of job

The Associated Press

BOSTON— The executive director of a board overseeing state
funding for stem cell research is out of the job six months
after he was appointed by former Gov. Mitt Romney in the
waning days of his administration.

Aaron D'Elia's views on stem cell research were similar to
Romney's but clashed with Gov. Deval Patrick's. He said he
supported the use of stem cells created from embryos left
over from fertility treatments, but opposed cloning embryos.

He was appointed by Romney to head the Massachusetts Life
Sciences Center. The post pays $125,000 annually.

Patrick made no secret of his frustration with the last minute
appointment and said he wanted people in key positions who
supported his goals. ...
