Chapman, KS got hit
Those poor people. I also heard that K-State/Manhattan was hit. Does anyone have information about the damage to the KSU? I consider them a rival university but damn, they are still Kansans.

A girlfriend of mine was almost hysterical yesterday. Some of her friends up in Iowa have lost their homes.

This just hurts.

1. There was a tornado today north of Eudora, west of Linwood
Downed trees and power lines near Linwood elementary. Proud posted in GD about one in Topeka too.
Apparently there is also a huge power outage along 23rd, but it didn't affect us...

2. It's hard watching all of this from a distance
The Admiral and I were watching some footage of Cedar Rapids and he mentioned the trip that we took there with Rex and evl last year. One of our friends (and fellow Deaniac) is from Iowa City but knows people from all over the state, she's been real upset. She's recognized at least one of the neighborhoods from Cedar Rapids where her friends live (or did until recently).

It seems like every week something bad is happening out your way. I'm glad you weren't affected by the power problems. We've had a few storms out here too but nothing like what you all are going through. I was listening to the radio the other day and they mentioned, after the tornadoes here, that there aren't any working tornado sirens in our area. They just haven't had them enough to invest in them. They're going to try to remedy that.

Hopefully our spate of bad weather will help wake up the neocons out here that global climate change is a reality and not just a leftist conspiracy. You know how they are, they don't believe anything unless they're affected.
