Why North Dakota May Be the Best State in the Country to Live In
Edited on Fri Apr-01-11 05:11 PM by dixiegrrrrl
Any ND Du-ers here?

According to this article, ND has great employment rate, only 650.000 people in the entire state, and has the only state owned bank in the country.

And has cheap housing.

2. UNLESS YOU ARE A WOMAN OF CHILD BEARING AGE...there is this
The House voted 51-41 this afternoon to declare that a fertilized egg has all the rights of any person.

That means a fetus could not be legally aborted without the procedure being considered murder.

4. That's unconstitutional so it won't last
In the meantime, does that mean any woman who miscarries is guilty of involuntary manslaughter?

Perhaps women need to send their used sanitary products to their GOP lege members so they can ascertain whether or not such a heinous crime has occurred.

After all, it's only a matter of time before these woman hating loons require that sort of thing.

13. ohhhh... such a great idea. Tampon deluge....
And, if they DO decide on invol. manslaughter charges as a result, it would be thrown out because the evidence is self incriminating.!

3. Plus, it's not South Dakota with it's religiously crazy legislature
poking their long blue noses into the uteri of women they don't know.

Best of all, "Custer was alive when he left here."

10. 'I can just hear the snarky comment formulating in your head right about now...'
'...something about North Dakota's rough winters, and comparative lack of high-brow culture or pro sports teams, no doubt. Duly noted. But if we keep the conversation to economics and fiscal policy, North Dakota has plenty to admire.'

But if you want REAL snark, go to Democratic Underground, where unrepentant regional chauvinists bloviate freely - going so far as to label the entire state as a haven for religious fanaticism.

Probably nice people and all, but too desolate and cold for my liking.

Send me a postcard instead.

11. Family moved from Florida to North Dakota
I worked with their son who was disabled. They were homeless in Florida. The father found a job in North Dakota on a Thursday. The family left the following Tuesday, in the blink of an eye.

Weather? Absurd when you are homeless.

14. I have moved across country twice for economic reasons, totally understand.
We live very well here on an income that would barely cover the rent and food in Ca.

Seriously. Bakken.

Huge jobs/money boom.

Colorado could be the next big winner; sooner or later politicians are going to realize that they can actually deliver a better economy with the Green River Oil Shale:

Also you have to come to Minnesota to use planned parenthood, Native Americans are considered fair game and GTLB folks generally bug out of there to a big city some place. I think we also get medical refugees from there.

But if you are white, straight, young, healthy and hearty it might just be a place for you. Lots of room.

The town she is from, and is now currently teaching in, is called Parshal. She said the bigotry towards natives by whites there is awful.
