Cities With the Highest and Lowest Unemployment
Source: nyt/ap

The Labor Department said Tuesday that unemployment rates fell in 281 metro areas. They rose in 57 and were unchanged in 34. That's slightly better than September's showing and is the largest number of cities to report a drop since April.

The metro area unemployment data aren't adjusted for seasonal variations, such as hiring for the winter holidays. So they can be volatile.

which isn't bad. We haven't been hit nearly so hard by the recession up here because of our oil-based economy, plus we never had quite the housing bubble that the Lower 48 did. The oil is also what is fueling North Dakota's boom.

3. I thought Michigan would have a few entries on the high unemployment list.
All those manufacturing jobs they shipped out of the midwest, don'tcha know. Detroit wasn't on either list. I wonder where it sits?

8. Detroit is #328 on the list
It did not make the 'worst' list because they lumped the entire metro area (Warren to Livonia) together.

4. Just LOOK at all those central California towns!
An honest reflection of the BLOOD RED tint of our part of the state. Here - in District 21, we have the Horri... I mean Honorable Devin Nunes for "representation". Has run UN-opposed several terms now. Fitting he presides over some of THE WORST unemployment #s. He's just a Rubber-Stamp lackey of the one percent. An Ex-dairy farmer who's udderly worthless. Of course, if ol' Bessie ever kicks him in the head one day, he'll have that despicable ol' guvamint health care to try and repair his damaged brain cell.

6. I see El Centro;
Has the highest unemployment in the US right now. How did that crap they pulled about trying to kick the gays out of their town work? Didn't that also take away all kinds of wedding business when same sex marriages became legal? Must suck to be them.

representation. The Republicans are of the rubber-stamp kind and the Democrats are Blue Dogs (Costa). Obama didn't even bother to come here in 2008, even though he got a majority of votes in 2008 in Fresno County. Most of our Congressional districts don't even have a Dmeocratic challenger and when they do plug someone nt, HE (always a HE) is simply a ballot place holder -- not even campaigning. The sad thing is that most of the PEOPLE in the Valley are kind and giving people, known for their generosity in times of need. WE are blamed for being a conservative area but yet your precious Democrats won't even put up a fight here, so we're stuck with the pieces of shit in Washington and no representation.
