N.J. Mayor Chris Myers resigns amid sex scandal
Source: Politico

MEDFORD, N.J. - This South Jersey town’s married mayor, accused on a website two months ago of having sex with a prostitute at a California hotel, resigned Monday.

The anonymous allegation against Chris Myers, a father of two, included a photo of a man who appeared to be him in his underwear. Myers was the Republican nominee in New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District in 2008 but was defeated by Democrat John Adler.

The person making the allegation claimed to be a prostitute. He said Myers contacted him through a male escort website and they met at a Newport Beach, Calif., hotel. He complained Myers paid him $500 but didn’t fulfill promises of a car and other gifts. He said on the website that the broken promise was the reason he was taking his story public. The website was taken down soon after becoming public.

Myers, in an interview with a reporter for the Courier-Post newspaper in October, refused to comment on the allegations but didn’t deny them. At a November township council meeting, Myers denied the claims, calling the Internet “a murky, anonymous place.”

1. Either he's not a "real" Republicant (or he wouldn't have resigned)...
or there are a WHOLE lot more pictures out there.

Now, if only Republic voters would start treating their politicians the same way the prostitutes they stiff do....

2. Unless he personally is campaigning on marriage as an issue, I really don't give a fuck...
...but then I didn't get $500 to give one either.

Can we just once and for all say "SO WHAT? PEOPLE HAVE SEX! DUH!" It's no one's business.

7. You're missing the point
The point is hypocrisy: "Family values" Republicans campaign on begin against adultery and homosexuality...and this married Republican picked up a male hooker.

Yes, people have sex. It's when hypocrites rail against something and then DO it, that sex becomes a scandal.

4. One pic survived, thanks to Wonkette

...Myers said he wasn’t even sure the photos were of him and wondered if they had been altered.

“I’ve been down that road before, where a photo has been photoshopped to look like something it wasn’t,” he said, declining to provide specifics.

He said the bag with his identification in it was easily accessible and that someone could have sneaked into his hotel room to capture him sleeping and take photos of his personal ID cards and badge...

P.S. You're NOT sleeping in that photo, Mr. Meyers. You have eyeglasses on and your body is too, uh tense.

6. More than one--this one is not flattering, either. Some wag has put it on a reelection poster.

5. The moral of the story is: if you promise the rent boy a car...
...GIVE the rent boy the car!

This isn't rocket science, people...

8. I wonder if the prostitute hurt his own business by outing Myers. Whether I were
an out gay man or a closeted gay man, I would not go to a prostitute whom I could not trust to keep my,um, visits totally confidential.

10. I wouldn't go to one who expected a car + "gifts" in addition to...
...a fairly decent "tarrif".

THAT, strikes me as extortion.
