This is the INCREDIBLE story of Elizabeth Holmes who convinced the Great & the Good that she had created an amazing invention that could test blood for diseases like cancer. She raised almost £1 BILLION and was the youngest ever female self made billionaire. However it was all a SCAM.
Elizabeth Holmes, aged 19, came up with an idea that she believed could change the world. In 2014 Elizabeth Holmes was 30 years old, the world's youngest self-made female billionaire and was on top of the world. A Stanford University drop-out, she had founded a company valued at $9 BILLION that was bringing about a revolution in diagnosing disease. With a few drops of blood, Theranos promised that its Edison test could detect conditions such as cancer and diabetes quickly without the hassle of needles.
There was just one problem: IT DIDN'T WORK
However, that didn't stop her creating a multi-billion dollar company, Theranos, on the back of it. But by 2015 Holmes was exposed as a fake and by 2018 the company she founded had collapsed.
