Kitties can act so nonchalant about things when they are sooooooooooooooo guilty
Plus if you had a doggie they would have 'blamed' the mess on it.

Luckily I wasn't in bed at the time. Note to self: Shelf over head of the bed bad idea when you live in the cats' apartment.

the other possibility could be "cat mania", where every cat in the room is in frenetic motion, bouncing and ricocheting off the walls, furniture or each other. My cats do that. They will clear off any table, lamp, books, channel changer, glass of iced tea, and everything else that might be on it.
