Although I have no children of my own, my late sister's kids have made me their honorary mom. I've been a constant presence in their lives, ever since they were born. I doubt I could love them more, even if they were my own.
My niece, nephew, their spouses and my brother had planned a surprise Mother's Day brunch for me. However, when the sweet little kitten died and I was so depressed, my niece blurted out the plan because she figured it would cheer me up. What they planned to bring remained a mystery. I honestly thought that maybe we'd make some blueberry pancakes, or something similar.
They had other plans. We started with a choice of a Bellini or Mimosa. Or, in my case, both. That was followed by steak and eggs, the steak being prepared on my Weber grill, and home made cinnamon rolls.
After they all left, my kidcats took turns cuddling on my lap.
All in all, a pretty good day.

(114,358 posts)as does your felid family, as does your DU family. You are a most miraculous blessing to all your families, and do not ever forget that!
Mourn that precious little one, and know that you are surrounded by love.

Happy Mother's Day to you and all your chosen kids, furry and not-furry.
