Pig kidney transplant patient dies two months after surgery in US - ABC News (Australia)



A man with end-stage renal disease, who earlier this year became the first living person to receive a genetically modified pig kidney, has died. The man's doctors had believed the pig kidney would last for at least two years but say there are no indications the recipient had died as a result of the xeno-transplant performed in March. Lecturer in health law Dr. Christopher Rudge tells The World’s Beverley O’Connor the kidney was most likely from a cloned pig.
